Dunnikier Park Golf Club Awarded a Grant
Dunnikier Park Golf Club Sees Surge in Junior Participation Thanks to KCFSC Grant
A recent grant award from the Kirkcaldy and Central Fife Sports Council (KCFSC) has proven to be a hole-in-one for Dunnikier Park Golf Club, sparking a significant increase in junior golfer participation, particularly among girls. Don Burns, KCFSC Treasurer, recently visited the club to witness firsthand the positive impact of the funding.
The grant, allocated by KCFSC, enabled Dunnikier Park Golf Club to partner with Fife Active Schools, Fife Golf Trust, and Scottish Golf to deliver engaging and successful holiday coaching programmes. These initiatives were designed to introduce the sport to young people in the local area, providing them with expert instruction and a fun, welcoming environment.

The programmes proved to be a resounding success, with a notable outcome being the introduction of 16 new girls to the game, many of whom had never held a golf club before. This achievement highlights the effectiveness of the partnership and the power of targeted funding in breaking down barriers to participation. The girls, inspired by the coaching and the camaraderie they found at Dunnikier Park, have subsequently joined the club, demonstrating the long-term impact of the KCFSC grant.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see the direct results of our grant funding,” said Don Burns, KCFSC Treasurer. “Dunnikier Park Golf Club’s dedication to junior development aligns perfectly with our mission to promote participation and accessibility in sport across Kirkcaldy and Central Fife. The partnership with Fife Active Schools, Fife Golf Trust, and Scottish Golf has clearly been a winning formula.”
The success of Dunnikier Park Golf Club’s project serves as a shining example of how KCFSC grants can make a tangible difference in local sporting communities.
